E·SPONDER offers a complete alert notification component. This component can be used as an out of the box solution or customized to fit a particular need within your organization. The alarming module provides reliable alert broadcasting to individuals via various messaging techniques. The component also allows for validation of message receipt.
The original alarming component was developed for the Missouri Office of Homeland Security. It applies the user registration data found in E·SPONDER to create a role based alarming function to reach groups quickly. For example, to reach all commanders, or Emergency Management employees, the administrator of the system would simply go to a screen and pick those individuals they chose to notify based on region, role or rank. Information can be sent out through e-mail, Short Message Service (SMS), pager, or cell phone (via text-to-speech functionality). The cell phone notification converts the typed message, dials out to reach a user via phone, and reads the message aloud. It is capable of notifying 10,000 participants within one hour. The SMS, paging, and e-mail functions are capable of instantly notifying an unlimited number of users.
